I was a bit disappointed to see that this year it does not look like SXSW has a torrent to samples from the artists of the music. They just have the individual tracks. I’ve enjoyed these compilations previously and it has turned me on to new artists.
The only real downside is throwing several thousand individual songs into iTunes makes real mess of the “by artist” listings. I ended up creating a smart playlist of “by artist but not SXSW” so I can find my ripped artists in a sane amount of time.
Happily it looks like Greg Hewgill has fixed this issue by compiling all of the 2008 songs into a single .zip file and putting it up.
