I’ve been somewhat bemused by the coverage of the voluntary embargo of Prince Harry’s stint in Afghanistan. In some articles commentators worry that viewers may not trust media bosses in the future.
News flash: we don’t trust them. However in this incident they did do the correct thing and worked out an agreement that got both parties what they wanted: Prince Harry some combat experience and the media a great bunch of stories to run when he got back. In fact this has raised the cred of the British media, not reduced it, IMHO.
The loser in cred department is Matt Drudge who appears to not be bothered by who he gets killed to get a scoop. What makes it even more sad is I doubt he even cares…
