One billion dollars. That means that Club Penguin was worth 7/10 what Circuit City is worth.
I was really amazed that K-Mart didn’t take down Sears after they creatively emerged from bankruptcy by buying ‘em out. I was prepared to be really pissed at Craftsman tools and Die Hard batteries turning into a crap brand, but it didn’t happen.
I think the Egghead shareholders should’ve been the most pissed. Apparently when Egghead went Chapter 11, they had enough assets to shut their doors and give all the shareholders a reasonable dividend. Instead the board chose to keep doing business as-is, Amazon bought ‘em for pocket-change, and the shareholders ended up getting nothing.
