Why I'll never be a good businessman... · Apr 14, 07:20 AM

I’ll never be a good businessman. It would never occur to me that the solution to save one failing business (Blockbuster) would be to buy another failing business (Circuit City).

  1. One billion dollars. That means that Club Penguin was worth 7/10 what Circuit City is worth.

I was really amazed that K-Mart didn’t take down Sears after they creatively emerged from bankruptcy by buying ‘em out. I was prepared to be really pissed at Craftsman tools and Die Hard batteries turning into a crap brand, but it didn’t happen.

I think the Egghead shareholders should’ve been the most pissed. Apparently when Egghead went Chapter 11, they had enough assets to shut their doors and give all the shareholders a reasonable dividend. Instead the board chose to keep doing business as-is, Amazon bought ‘em for pocket-change, and the shareholders ended up getting nothing.
