One place I’ve felt that Windows was way ahead of MacOS was in printer setup. Especially with networked printers. In the past, especially with Panther, I had to jump through many hoops to get printing working.
My old inkjet died so I recently bought a new one and a laser printer*. I now have two printers hanging off my network.
I did not want the scanning software and such on my laptop so I fired up the Leopard printer tool, selected to add a printer, and it found both of them. I hi-lighted each one and after about 30 seconds it found drivers for them, I pressed add for each and both were installed.
On my Vista SP1 machine it could only find one of the printers and it could not locate drivers for it. I had to install both of them manually.
It looks like Apple has caught up.
*BTW, I was impressed that I could buy a decent wireless laser printer for $130.

Amateur. We bought a new $4000 Canon plotter last week. It came with two installers and a tech who handled the hookup. I recommend it.
